What is MVHR Heating?

Our Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery  (MVHR) systems will quietly and efficiently provide the home with fresh, filtered air all year round, improving the indoor air quality and reduce dust and allergen levels.

Government legislation and Building Regulations require that new homes are built with very low leakage rates, making them more energy efficient. These air-tight construction methods can result in poor indoor air quality as condensation and pollutants remain trapped inside the home. MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery) offers year-round ventilation that will improve indoor air quality whilst recovering the heat that would otherwise be lost outside.

The MVHR units operate by continuously extracting moisture-laden air from ‘wet’ rooms – such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms within the property whilst drawing in fresh supply air from outside. The heat from the extracted stale air is recovered via a heat exchanger inside the heat recovery unit which becomes tempered then filtered before supplying into the habitable rooms, creating comfortable and a well ventilated home. The heat exchanger block within these units can recover up to 95% of the normally wasted heat. The two independent fans have full-speed control for background and boost ventilation rates. The MRXBOXAB-ECO2 has a Summer bypass function. In warmer months this function automatically activates to ensure the property is being well-ventilated and comfort levels are maintained in the home by continuously drawing in fresh filtered air into the habitable rooms

Nuaire Mechanical Product

Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHP)

We source our Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR) units from the leading manufacturer,  South Wales based Nuaire who offer a comprehensive 10 year warranty on their products.

Although there are other less expensive brands available, we choose Nuaire for their outstanding quality and reliability. A proven low-energy and highly efficient ventilation method, MVHR is fast becoming the most common method of whole home ventilation for new build properties.

MVHR systems work by combining supply and extract in one unit. Moisture-laden, stale air is extracted from ‘wet’ areas, such as kitchens and bathrooms. The heat from this stale air is recovered via a heat exchanger, and this tempered air delivered into the living areas of the home. Nuaire’s MVHR range recovers heat at 95% efficiency, making it the most effective range currently available.

In warmer months when cooling is required to maintain comfort levels, Nuaire’s MVHR Eco range offers 100% bypass with no loss of resistance.
